Hungry Hearts 2014

The Our Place Society is an inner-city community centre serving Greater Victoriaís most vulnerable working poor, impoverished elderly, mentally and physically challenged, addicted and the homeless. The group serves over 1,600 meals per day, and provides hot showers, free clothing, counseling and outreach services, plus 45 transitional housing units.

Hungry Hearts was an inaugural gala fundraiser created and produced by Brink Events benefiting the society. The main feature of the event was a 5 chef competition to see who could create the top soup & sandwich combination – a meal typically served by Our Place for lunch. Voting by guests determined a winner. Combine this with great entertainment, a delicious selection of beverages, full decor and lighting, an amazing live auction, and a top-notch guestlist, and the evening turned out to be a huge success. After all was said and done, Our Place raised over $58,000 (after costs) from this first year total – a very admirable total for any inaugural event.

The event is now entering its fourth year and it’s raised over $350,000 in its first three years.
